What is Mission Mukti?

Mission Mukti is a focused, multi-agency initiative launched by Nagpur City Police, aimed at rescuing, rehabilitating, and restoring dignity to homeless and mentally ill individuals living on our streets.

This initiative reflects a profound shift in modern policing — from enforcement to engagement, from control to care. Those living under bridges, near temples, railway stations, or city gardens are not criminals. They are citizens in need of support and a second chance.

A Mission Born from Conscience

Mission Mukti represents the highest calling of police service — not merely to uphold law, but to uphold humanity. When I took charge as Commissioner, I was determined that our force would look beyond the crime and see the person.

The individuals on our streets — abandoned, mentally unwell, homeless — are not a law enforcement challenge. They are a humanitarian imperative. Under Mission Mukti, we have rescued and rehabilitated individuals across multiple operational phases, partnering with medical institutions, NGOs, and government departments.

I am proud of every officer who has gone beyond the call of duty in this mission. And I urge every citizen of Nagpur to be our partner — in reporting, in spreading awareness, and in believing that every life deserves dignity.
